Distinct From The Rest

The Lord gave the Ten Commandments because it mirror man's transgressions and iniquities (that he cannot perfectly obey those). And so because of His mercy, we are given the opportunity to be made clean (in His sight) and to be forgiven from our sins.

Read: Leviticus 8-15

In chapters 11-16, we can find the laws for cleanliness. God gave this law to the Israelites in order for them to be clean and be separated from defiled men, food, and things. The Lord already knew that the Israelites will find it hard to be clean all throughout their lives while living in this world as His people. The main purpose for these laws (of cleanliness) is for them to be holy because God is Holy (Ch. 11:45). Since God brought them out from the land of Egypt in order for them to be His own people and as His priesthood for the world, it would be of first importance that God wanted them to be holy,  to be distinguished from any  unclean thing that is infected by sin.

The Priesthood serves lifetime of purpose, that is to be a mediator between God and man (who left from the presence of God). The same as us today. We were saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Therefore, we became a holy nation and a royal priesthood-all because of Jesus Christ. The distinguished life, most importantly, need to believe that Jesus is Christ and his/her personal Lord. What we have to know regarding these laws of cleanliness, is that it is God's grace that brings us back to God from having a defiled life. The Lord gave the Ten Commandments because it mirror man's transgressions and iniquities (that he cannot perfectly obey those). And so because of His mercy, we are given the opportunity to be made clean (in His sight) and to be forgiven from our sins.

This is God's abundant love for us.
