Message in Misery

Scripture:

“I loathe my very life; therefore I will give free rein to my complaint and speak out in the bitterness of my soul. I say to God: Do not declare me guilty, but tell me what charges you have against me. Does it please you to oppress me, to spurn the work of your hands, while you smile on the plans of the wicked? (Job 10:1-3 NIV)

Reflection:

The words of Job could simply illustrate the pain that He has been feeling after almost everything that He has was taken away from Him, and having his entire body covered with afflictive sores. Imagine what agony would drive a blameless and upright man who fears the Lord and shuns the devil to say such words against Him.

We too, surely have a bunch of those moments where we question God's means don't we? It is normal, but it is not okay. God's ways are indeed way higher than ours that for times we couldn't fathom no matter how hard we try.

Sometimes, God allows distress to happen in our lives not to punish us, but to send a message that would give us a deeper relationship with Him. Hard as it may be, what we have to do is to be grateful.

So when we see ourselves in a situation where misery is all that we feel amidst our obedience to God, may we not look for solution to get through or justification of our suffering. May we seek for the message that He would like for us to not just receive, but also to experience.
