SCRIPTURE:
And he said to the human race, “The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.” (Job 28:28 NIV)REFLECTION:
In James 1:5, it is stated, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." Undoubtedly right. In Job 28: 20, Job asks, "Where then does wisdom come from? Where does understanding dwell?" Knowing the answer, he mentioned in verse 23, "God understands the way to it and he alone knows where it dwells,"
Now in verse 28, God opens our eyes in the revelation that fear of Him is wisdom and understanding comes in shunning the evil. This, I believe tells that in our obedience to God, there are Holy Spirit-lead judgments that we make enabling us to live a life pleasing to Him.
Being wise entails keen discernment in order to know not only what we have to do, but also what we should avoid of doing. Fear of the Lord embraces the responsibility of knowing and obeying His commands, in which when we fully comprehend would give us the courage to keep clear of any wicked ways that the enemy offers.
Lastly, He declares this not merely to believers alone, but to every single human that He has created in our race. Having heard God's revelation, now is the time for Him to be heard through us.
