Living In Him Is Our Identity

As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. Without that breath of life we are just a lump of clay without life and could not be considered living, that is not just our identity. Without God we are formless, empty and darkness in the surface as Genesis 1 describes it. The prophet Jeremiah recognizes this in the way the Israelites live their life without God that made him declare to the Lord in Jeremiah 10:23 "O Lord , I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps."

Scripture:

In Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

1.) There is no life apart from Him.

2.)This breath of life is what identifies a human from other creation.

That moral conscience and spiritual awareness of God that has been given to us. In a way God gives His identity to the humans in his breath of life and received his spirit the same way Jesus did in John 10:22 "And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.""

3.) If we live in the Spirit we are living our Identity.

To live in the Spirit is the same way God depicts life in the garden. The reason why He breathed on us is for us to live in Him, not apart. "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me." (John 15:4)

This is who we are and how we should live as identified in Him and now as citizens of heaven, not set on earthly things but has life in the Spirit.

That is why brother and sisters, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. (Philippians 3:17-21)
