Scripture:
Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.” When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” (John 11:3-4 NKJV)Reflections:
Probably at times, we can find ourselves in the same state with Lazarus as described in verse 3; loved by Christ, but sick.I believe that the "sickness" that is being referred from the passage is not limited to the physical ones. It includes spiritual illnesses that we suffer from.
How encouraging are the words of Christ when He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”
Lazarus indeed did not ended dead, though he was for four days. He died, but it wasn't the end, for Christ raised him back to life.
For us who have fallen asleep in our faith, Christ came to wake us up. He will shout in our each of our tombs our name commanding us to come forth.
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. (John 11:25 NKJV)
