May God work within us so that with our individual effort as responsible citizens, we may contribute to the nations's recovery from this crisis through the grace of the Lord.

Read: Nehemiah 4:14

'After reviewing this, I stood up and said to the officials, the officers, and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them! Remember that the LORD is great and awesome! Fight for your families, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses!”' Nehemiah 4:14

Nehemiah's line in this verse shows how confident he is in the Lord, praising Him of His greatness and awesomeness in order to remind the people that the Lord is with them as they fight for their families. Nehemiah's confidence in the Lord reminds us today that we, too, must always put our trust in the Lord no matter what we're fighting for.

With everything that's happening around us now, we can say that our nation is almost crumbling to the ground just as how the walls of Jerusalem was brought down to pieces after captivity. Despite just being at home, we all know that we are fighting for our families now. It's not just our families but the whole nation as well especially our frontliners and those who are sick, hungry and unemployed.

The story of Nehemiah reminds us that God is with us in our fight. He is an example that the things we do on our own initiative can create a great impact on our community. But even if we work hard to make something work, it won't work if we don't ask God first. Nehemiah prayed for even the simplest things and so should we.

'The king asked, “What is it that you need?” I prayed to the God of heaven.' Nehemiah 2:4

The Lord guides us every step of the way and will bring us to where He wants us to be. Our weaknesses won't even matter the moment He decides He wants to use us to do His work.

Today I pray for the whole nation especially the government to find the will to rebuild the country just like how the people rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem. May God work within us so that with our individual effort as responsible citizens, we may contribute to the nations's recovery from this crisis through the grace of the Lord.
