Rescued To Rescue Souls

It is not enough to say that you are saved because the Lord was crucified. Yes, we know that we are saved from our sins before and now and even for our sins in the coming days, all of those were already forgiven. But that is not enough. We need to receive Jesus Christ. We need to be married to Him to have oneness with the Lord, Jesus Christ.

Read: Proverbs 24:11

If we look outside, we can see a lot of people with lost souls. And though it is painful to see, this is the reality. This is because this was what the society taught us. Even from the time when we were in grade school, we were taught that the basic needs of life are food, shelter and clothing. That’s it. If you have these three, you will surely survive in this world. They forgot to teach us one more thing, the one that is most important, and that is God. Without God, we are nothing.

Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" (Matthew 4:4)

This is what I’m holding on to. It's just amazing that to us Christians, we know that, in all our challenges, trials, and problems, we know that we have a great God. That our God is so powerful. That our God is Great. Our God is able and He is mighty and there is nothing that our God cannot do.

But how about those people who have not yet known God? We are blessed that we know that. According to Ptr. Reyan Lim last Saturday, in Exodus 14:14, “God will fight for you, you only have to be still.” That is the only thing that we are to do – to be still. To pray without ceasing, because that is our advantage as believers of God, those of us who know how to use the name of the Lord, and that is through prayer.

They said that the power of a Christian is shown through prayer and faith. It is said that “A prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian. So how about the lost souls who don’t know how to pray? What will happen to them?

May the seeds that are planted into your hearts tonight sprout and grow big and eventually will be able to bear fruits.

Will you believe if I tell you that the knowledge of a person is not ‘zero’ when it comes to Jesus Christ. Try to go out, (if you have complied – pun intended) and ask people randomly, or if you cannot go out (because you have not complied – pun intended), then stay at home and try asking your Facebook friends how much they know about the Lord. I know, many of them will say, “Yes, we know the Lord. We know that He was crucified to redeem us of our sins. We know that He died and was resurrected after three days. We know that He was raised to heaven.” But that’s all it was.

It is sad to think that that’s all they know about the Lord. Many lost souls around us, there are a lot of candles in the streets that are not yet lighted. And I know that the Lord rescued us so that we will also rescue souls. That is the mission of the Lord for us. There are already happenings in the world. There are tragedies taking place, fire, explosion, earthquake, the pandemic, that will tell us that the judgement day is drawing near.

If I am to ask you, are you ready for the judgement day? Maybe you’d answer me, “Yes, I am ready. Isn’t the reason why we are preparing? The reason why we are having our daily devotions. The reason why we are having Sunday service. The reason we are attending this. The reason we are reading His Words is for the time that the Lord will come back again.”

But we will no longer reach those times because we’ll be ruptured even before His return.

My point is, the tragedies that we are going through right now is creating fear to many. It creates fear for the majority. Many are scared, overthinking that the world will now vanish. But should we be excited in the first place? Why are we afraid? We are afraid because we are not ready. As they have said, “Failure to prepare means preparing to fail.” What are we preparing for?

That is the Judgement Day. And you have answered me that you are ready, my question is, “Is your family ready? Do you think that if the Judgement will take place, will they pass?”

You can tell me that you yourself are ready and will pass, but how about your family, your friends? I would tell you this over and over again (because I’m on unli – pun intended), we were rescued to rescue souls. SOULS with an S, to emphasize that it’s not just one.

“Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter.” (Proverbs 24:11 NIV)

That is the mission of the Lord for us. He rescued us not to be mere followers. He rescued us to make us leaders for Him. We have duties and responsibilities that we have to do. And just like what I said, that is to rescue souls.

It is just so sad that whenever you look outside, in the streets, there are a lot of candles walking not yet lighted. Right now, shine your candles brighter to light up more candles that are not yet lights. Their lives are a waste if they won’t know the Lord.

You have to start rescuing now and start it with your family. Before going outside, start with people inside your home. You are rescuing them because that is your duty, yes, but you will also do it because you love them, because we have to love the Lord’s creation.

You may ask me now how to rescue? Maybe you’d say, it is easier said than done. But just like what I said earlier, in Exodus 14:14, the Lord is fighting for you. You don’t need to worry because God will show you the way of how you will handle it. All you have to do is pray.

Call to me and I will answer you and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. (Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV)

The Lord is the answer to everything. He knows all that we ever need. So if you are asking me how, ask the Lord. If you will ask me when to start, all I will answer you is “NOW” (all in capital to intensify). Because we don’t know, maybe tomorrow may be too late.

So that’s how God has revealed His words to me.

First in Matthew 4:4, “Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

Secondly, Exodus 14:14, “ God will fight for you, you only have to be still.”

Thirdly, Jeremiah 33:3, “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and mighty things that you have not known.”

And lastly, Proverbs 24:11, “Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter.”

I hope that it became clear to us that we need to rescue souls. That’s the reason we are called ‘missionaries’, not just to follow the will of the Lord but also to show to the people around us how mighty our Lord is. It is to light up the candles that are dim.

The Judgement Day is drawing near. When the trumpet sounds, the Lord will return. And I pray that no one will be left behind, us and our family. That is also what God wants to happen.

It is not enough that we are saved alone. What God wants is to be united with Him, like a husband united with His wife.

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

He is the only way to enter the Kingdom of God. Now if you are not married to Him, you will be left behind. And remember in a wedding, there are witnesses. Those witnesses only, will not enter the Kingdom of God.

That’s why it is not enough to say that you are saved because the Lord was crucified. Yes, we know that we are saved from our sins before and now and even for our sins in the coming days, all of those were already forgiven. But that is not enough. We need to receive Jesus Christ. We need to be married to Him to have oneness with the Lord, Jesus Christ.

I hope that the message tonight was clear to each and every one of us. We have already started the race the moment that we received Jesus Christ in our lives. It will be a waste If we are not going to finish it.

You may grow weary, you take a break, but you have to continue. You have started the race and we need to finish it (God is faithful to complete what He has started in your life). We are not only looking forward to consolation prizes but what we should look forward to is a great reward. What is the great reward?

That is eternal life.
