Light, Grace And Truth

He is the eternal truth; that no matter what we do, He still loves us (and disciplines us for our own good). It's the saving truth that saves us from the penalty of our sins - if only we accept Him in our lives.

Read: John 1:8-9

"He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world." (John 1:8-9 NKJV)

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:14 NKJV )

What does it mean when John wrote about the "light"?

Let's read in the book of John:

"In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it." (John 1:4-5 NKJV)

LIGHT:

1) LIGHT IS "THE LIFE"

In verse 4, it means that the Light is life. It's not just ordinary life but an eternal one. God will not give things that will last just for a season but for eternity; one of eternal value.

2) LIGHT IS "THE WAY"

"And the light shines in the darkness,..." (John 1:5a NKJV)

We cannot see anything in full darkness. Figuratively speaking, this world is full darkness, and God Himself declares that He is the light that shines the way.

3) LIGHT IS "THE TRUTH"

John 1:5B NKJV "...and the darkness did not comprehend it."

The darkness is full of lies (deceptions), but the light gives forth the truth.

GRACE:

Grace means undeserved favor, a gift that has been paid and costed a price - that we, undeserving people, needed the most.

Why do we need grace?

Because we are sinners (from birth to death).

And the penalty of sin is death (physical and eternal): "For the wages of sin is death..."  (Romans 6:23a).

We encounter grace in our lives all the time - the moment we wake up until the time we go back to bed, and even in our sleeping. Grace keeps us moving!

Grace gives us the power to do God's will; it fuels us and encourages us to share this gift of God with others.

Grace is one of the attributes of God that keeps us blessed despite our sins and the trials we are facing.

TRUTH:

Truth means salvation; that He is the true God.

He is with his father, through the Father, and comes from the Father.

Truth saved us from the lies of the enemy.

Truth enlightens our eyes, unclogs our ears, and gives clarity to our decisions.

This is what God truly does in our lives.

He is the eternal truth; that no matter what we do, He still loves us (and disciplines us for our own good).

It's the saving truth that saves us from the penalty of our sins - if only we accept Him in our lives.
