Read: Ephesians 6:10-13
A lot of Christian believers do not know the true meaning of a faithful life. They just make the effort to attend church services and strive to obey the teachings on their own. Moreover, after 'fulfilling' some of the teachings, they satisfy themselves by convincing their selves that they have done well as Christians though superficially.
Being in the weak flesh, these so-called Christians get frustrated because they fail to obey the Word exactly. They get anxious and they are not qualified as believers of God, which is a wrong sense in their life in the faith.
WHAT IS SIN?
The world, together with its many religious principles and doctrines, make people think that if they succeed in obeying these rules, they can regard themselves as faithful men. And when they fail to keep up, they end up frustrated in their sins.
The truth is, not even one can faithfully keep up with such statutes. In one way or another, everyone failed, fails, and will fail. That is why Jesus came to take our fight as His own, and He won that fight through the Cross.
One of the Bible's definitions of sin is the "unbelief in God". People do not believe in God's presence and existence. They do not admit that God is not the Almighty God, that He is the Creator of everything, that He is the Lord of all.
Man is flesh but God is a Spirit. Satan is also a spirit. Having said that, we can't battle against Satan through our own knowledge and power. We are so hopeless on our own that even in the Church place, there are times we end up giving in to temptation due to our fleshly desires
A lot of Christians do service attendance, ministry service, tithe giving, and other similar church activities to compensate for their shortcomings. They convince themselves that if they do well in their ministries, they are being faithful as if their sins are being hidden away from God. But this way of thinking is so messed up. This is not the true essence of the spiritual life. These are just services and mere activities in the church and they won't compensate for the spiritual wreckage we are in. Therefore, we need the power of the Holy Spirit to fight Satan, who is also a spirit.
THE ARMOR OF GOD
"Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rules of the darkness of this age, against hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." (Ephesians 6:11-12)
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." (John 1:12-13)
"Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness. And having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints." (Ephesian 6:13-18)
BELT OF TRUTH
Waist is the middle of the body to sustain and give power. If we are not in Christ, we will end up wandering and lost in our direction towards our destination because of the lies of this world. Amidst this dead world, God gave us the Truth, the Way, and the Life, Jesus Christ. If we are to fight the lies of the wicked spirit, we have to fight it with the truth through the Holy Spirit.
BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
he heart is the most important organ in the body. We have to stand in righteousness through Jesus Christ alone and not on our own righteousness through our works. If we protect our hearts with Jesus' righteousness, Satan will not be able to ruin us through our failures.
SHOES OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE
The feet have to be comforted (with footwear) wherever we go. If we are not sure of our identity, our life will be like working in the darkness. But if we know and accept the power from the Gospel, we can go everywhere and we can do everything for the Gospel. The Gospel is the news of salvation through Jesus Christ by the grace of God. This is the faith and conviction we need to live in this present time.
SHIELD OF FAITH
Faith is the highest knowledge. If we feel obliged to do something to qualify ourselves as true believers, then that is not the faith of the truth. We have to rely on Jesus Christ for our righteousness; trust the grace of God that we can do anything.
HELMET OF SALVATION
Some Christian ask themselves, "Am I saved or not? Even though I believed I've got my salvation now, I fear I might lose it in the future. If a man has no conviction of God's salvation in the present, they cannot have faith for His salvation in the future as well. However, if they have faith that they are saved by the grace of God through Jesus Christ, they will have the faith of salvation in the present and the future.
SWORD OF THE SPIRIT
The sword is a weapon to fight against the enemy. The Bible says the weapon is the Word of God. In reality, the Word of God is a very powerful weapon to fight Satan with. But if we do not know the Word of God, it means we don’t have the right weapon to fight on the battlefield.
PRAYING
When we pray, we should pray in the Spirit, and not because of our desire, will, and lusts. Prayer is our communion with the Holy Spirit. This is how we sustain, fight, and endure any attacks of the enemy.
