Be Still

We should be more grateful when things like these happen. God is showing His glory in our waiting season, it only proves that our flesh is weak in the times of waiting for God’s will, and this is why we need Him in every season of our life. Because every time we get tired and impatient, we can find strength and grace in Him.

Yes, I am very impatient when it comes to work, especially when I am editing some videos as a content creator. I really hate that feeling when the equipment that I’m using doesn’t go well especially that I already have so many plans that I've set even since last year (eg, career, life goals, love life).

I am also impatient in waiting because I always want to rush things.

I just don’t like hustling. My patience also has been tested through people, the way I respond to them.

Have you also experienced these kinds of things? I'm sure you did.

Have you run out of patience when you are dealing with people? In this pandemic, how is God testing you? Do you have any urgent plans that you want to accomplish as soon as you possible?

Actually, we’re living in this generation wherein all we want are “instant solutions”.

According to the Bible, patience is something that we, Christians, should have because it is one of the fruits of our faith (Of the Holy Spirit to be exact- Galatians 5:22 )

Be patient with other people.

You will not get through your Christian walk of faith without patience. Many people in Scripture made poor choices because of their lack of patience. If you don’t have patience you’re going to open the wrong door.

“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” (James 1:19 )

It is not easy for Christians to maintain it.

We really need patience especially when we are sharing the Word of God with others. It might be not easy sometimes because most of the time they will really butt in.

You need patience when things aren’t going your way. You need patience when that boss gets on your last nerve. You need patience when you’re running late to work. You need patience when the traffic is so congested. Sometimes lacking patience leads to a dangerous path because it can change the way you see things and you will end up making mistakes you will regret because of your anger.

“And we urge you, brothers, to admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, and be patient with everyone.” (1 Thessalonians 5:14)

We Christians are also called to be peacemakers.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." (Matthew 5:19)

Don’t rush things

Let’s also be aware of the things that we are praying for because sometimes, Satan hears our prayers. And he is using our wrong prayers and desire for us to rush on things and make ungodly and unwise decisions.

"Then the devil took Him into the holy city and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written, ‘He will command His angels concerning You’; and ‘On their hands they will bear You up, So that You will not strike Your foot against a stone. "(Matthew 4:5-6)

Satan sometimes puts what we have been praying for in front of us fooling us to think they are from God. We must be still. Don’t rush into every decision which can lead to a lot of mistakes. Don’t pray and do what you want to do. Don’t pray and say, "God didn’t say no so I guess it’s His will". Be still and wait on the Lord. Trust in Him. What is meant for you will be there for you. There is no need to rush.

We rush things because we want our prayers to be answered immediately. We already had the idea in our mind and our heart wants to pursue that idea instead of waiting for an answer from the Lord. (Jeremiah 17:9)

Be patient with God.

On my last point, I just want us to focus on one thing. So, what is that one thing? Focus your life on Jesus Christ. Take your eyes off of the distractions around you and put them on the Lord. When you are so focused on Christ you will not be focusing on other things.

Because most of the time believers are paying for their lack of patience. God intervenes in the situation, but we are fighting with God to do our own will when He is trying to protect us.

"looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:2 ESV)

Jesus is the center and He is our life. We can’t control things, and we don’t have the ability to change the situation. So, stop pretending, as if that we are strong in our own, because the Truth is, we are really nothing apart from His presence.

"More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,"(Romans 5:3-4)

Therefore we should be more grateful when things like these happen. God is showing His glory in our waiting season. It only proves that our flesh is weak in the times of waiting for God’s will. And this is why we need Him in every season of our life. Because every time we get tired and impatient, we can find strength and grace in Him.

Lastly, aside from seeking immediate answers to our prayers, can we please also learn how to be patient?
